Dealing with Your First Period During School Hours

It is also a totally normal thing, though it may seem confusing, awkward, or even frightening, when you get your first period when you are in school. It can be dealt with without panic and with self-confidence with the proper preparation and attitude.

Dos

Do be prepared.
Keep a small period kit in the bag that includes sanitary pads, spare underwear, tissues, and a pouch. When you are ready, you will not panic and instead, you will be able to concentrate on your day.

Do talk to a trusted adult.
It can be your mother or elder sister or teacher or school nurse, but telling them what you are going through may bring comfort and practical advice. Schools are not as harsh as you think.

Do choose the right protection.
The issue of comfort is important, particularly in school hours. Leaks and discomfort can be avoided by using the best sanitary pads to fit into your flow. A few students are also interested in discovering the best sanitary products that can be used in case of sensitive skin or busy school days.

Do maintain hygiene.
Always change your pad every 4–6 hours, wash your hands before and after and keep yourself clean. Where feasible, think about organic sanitary products, which are less harsh on the skin and do not have severe chemicals.

Don’ts

Don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed.
Periods are a biological phenomenon. It has nothing to be ashamed or secret about; it is something every woman experiences.

Don’t ignore pain or discomfort.
Mild cramping is normal, but serious pain, dizziness, or excessive bleeding cannot be overlooked. Speak up and seek help.

Don’t skip school out of fear.
You should not be prevented from attending classes or activities because of periods. With time, you will know what fits best into your body.

Don’t be afraid to explore alternatives.
When you become older, you might wish to explore greener alternatives such as reusable pads, which are both affordable and sustainable when properly used.

The beginning of learning more about your body is your first period. Knowledge, preparation, and confidence make school days as usual as any other period.

Enjoy your stress-free first period with Timepads-comfortable, safe and confident on every school day.
